A Taste of New Orleans (2026)

In continuation of a long-standing partnership, SANCSC provided volunteers to support the San Antonio Zulu Association's 40th Annual "A Taste of New Orleans" during Fiesta 2026.  

The event was held from April 17 - 19, 2026 at the historic Sunken Garden Theater, at the Brackenridge Park.

"The Taste" has become one of Fiesta San Antonio's most popular events because of its fun atmosphere that focuses on tradition and family, as it allows attendees stroll about the grounds and enjoy New Orleans-style food, music, clowns, and face painting. 

This year, "The Taste” menu included assorted gumbos, red beans and rice, cajun smoked turkey legs, sausage on a stick, Soul food in a cup (Double D Cup), crawfish etouffee, jambalaya, fried catfish, fresh crawfish boil, boudin, alligator, and a "banana thang" that was one of many tasty treats.  

Also a wide assortment of beverages were available, to include margaritas, which was the booth that most SANCSC members manned.   

Although the weather did not cooperate this year (rainy, windy, and cool), the Zulu's were not deterred and nor were the vendors or volunteers. Attendees still showed up with their family and friends to support the event, and had themselves a great time.
